Why are the credit bureau scores rated on a different scale then FICO?
I received my 3 credit scores which all show as based on a scale of 501-990. My score is in the high 700 range, but they all rate me as a "C". Is my FICO score different from these, I was under the impression that high 700s was a good score, but based on these I’m not doing so well. I’ve always had good credit and never had major issues I checked because I’m going to be paying off debt and want to see how much my scores improve. Should I pay for a FICO score as well, or are these three a good idea of what my score will be?

How are my credit scores??? what is considered a good score?
Posted in: Credit Score Good Range Tags: credit scores, different companies, equifax, experian, population, score, transunion
I got my credit scores and reports for the 1st time ever at 24, and they’re 757,738 and 770 with the 3 different companies, Equifax,Transunion and Experian, respectively.
I thought this sounded good but the chart says that between 21 and 25% of the population has scores in these ranges. That seems sort of common, are these scores good? What is considered a good score??
Here's my situation: 26 years-old, single, no dependents. Should I try for a home loan now?
I am 26 years-old, single, no dependents or deductions. I only have about ,000 in my savings, make about ,000 salary per year (before taxes, heavily taxed due to no deductions and resident of California), a good FICO score of about 745 (not sure what my credit rating is of the others credit scores), live at home paying about 0/month in rent. I am able to save about ,500 per month. I also am paying off about ,000 left of student loans (paying about 0 per month).
I am very interested in getting a home loan. I have only scraped the surface into looking into the housing market, though. I am interested locally here, where the prices of homes are very high. I am interested in a home price ranging from 0,000 to 0,000, which are available here in the Southern San Francisco Bay Area, California.
Think I should be looking into a home loan? I am very interested. Or, perhaps too early?
With a credit score of between 714 and 771 will we get a good mortgage rate if we refinance?
Posted in: Credit Score Good Range Tags: 300k, closing costs, crap, credit scores, interest rate, pmi
Example. We are paying 6.875% interest with NO PMI. We want to keep it this way. But I feel we are paying MUCH too high of an interest rate. If our credit scores range from 714-771….we owe about 224k and our home "zestimate" is 282K (which is total crap as I say its worth at least 300k)…what are our chances of getting into a better loan, with a better rate, and NO PMI and no high closing costs??? Thanks
Should I get a car loan or not?
Posted in: Credit Score Good Range Tags: asking this question, car loan, car loans, credit card, credit scores, debt to income ratio, home loan, lol, mortgage lender
First, my husband and I are hoping to be pre-approved to buy a home by this May. We are actively working with a mortgage lender and I will be asking this question next time I talk to her but am curious of the answer if anyone knows.
The problem we have is we dont have enough credit and what we do have isnt "diverse" (meaning we have 1 credit card with nothing owed on it and nothing else, no car loans, nada) We need another car, it isn’t an emergency, we actually have the cash to buy one without a loan. But, we are wondering if it was smart to get a small ,000 car loan now to give us more "diverse credit" (I hate that term by the way, lol) but the potential problem(s) we forsee is that it will be too new of credit and will lower our credit scores or will put us in a too high debt to income ratio. We can are pre-qualified for a 0,000 home but we want to stick to the 0,000 range for personal financial comfort reasons and am not sure if this will exceed our goal for a home payment (make sense??)
We do NOT want a huge loan, the only reason we would get one is because we want to make our credit better for a home loan. If we can avoid one, we will, lol. Any thoughts?? Again, we will be asking the lender this question.
How do I get diverse credit then?? This whole thing is confusing ![]()
Only got approved for a $60,000 home, how will I find a decent 1?
Posted in: Credit Score Good Range Tags: buying a home, buying a house, credit score, credit scores, decent area
I was once approved for a 60k home when my credit score was around 550 but I could never find anything in a decent area or decent living condition. Now I have two kids and a husband. I make over 30k he makes around 40 k. Both or our credit scores are below 550. I am working on mine and don’t actually plan on buying a house until my score goes up with good payments in the next 12 to 24 months. Anyway, with just looking around there’s no way I’m buying a home like the one’s I see in that price range. What can I do to get a very nice house? One that I can live in forever and be satisfied. The homes that I like are usually around the 120,000 to 150,000 range. I live in Alabama.
What would be a minimum down paymnet for a conventional loan?
Posted in: Credit Score Good Range Tags: car payment, carpet, conventional loan, credit scores, dream home, fha, hud, paint, roofing repairs, shingles, student loans, work history
Will a bank give a conventional loan with only 5% down? Two of my credit scores are in the 710 range, the third is 680, good work history. Bring home around 00.00 a month, I have around 0 that goes out a month between car payment and student loans. The house I want, I don’t think will pass the FHA reqirements due to being a HUD home, has minimal roofing repairs, I just don’t think will pass with FHA. It needs carpet and paint, but just has a few missing shingles, just needs cleaned up, but structurally sound, and is my dream home.
What's the standard APR for used car?
My fiancee and I are thinking of purchasing our first car. I know we can probably get 0% APR for a new car, but we’re thinking of getting a used car, because it’s a better deal (we all know how bad a new car depreciates as soon as you drive off the lot).
About what can we expect for a ballpark of an APR for a used car?
- Both of our credit scores are either in the Good or Excellent ranges
- Neither of us currently have a car note. We each own our cars outright. But I do own a house.
Want to buy a home, but wasn't sure if we may qualify for a home loan?
Posted in: Credit Score Good Range Tags: 7 months, beneficiary, credit scores, full time, grandmother, home loan, job, living trust, million dollars, oregon border, time length
My husband and I are looking forward to buying our first home sometime this year (2010). We live in California, about 2 hours from the Oregon border. I am 24 and my husband is 22. I do not work just yet, but am going to school full time, and my husband works full time, and makes about ,200-,500 a month. He has had his job for almost 7 months now, but by the time we get ready to buy our home, he will have had it for over a year. We have some bills, but they are getting paid off by June 2010, completely paid off. My grandmother passed away a few months back, and she had a living trust, in which I was a beneficiary, and her estate was worth over 1.8 million dollars. They told me I was suppose to be inheriting ,000. We were going to take about ,000 and put it down on the house, and was looking for a home in the 0,000-0,000 range. Our credit scores 2 years ago were in the lower 600′s, but that was 2 years ago and we have been paying faithfully on our bills since then, and they will be completely paid off by the time we go for a home loan.
So…..with ,000 down, credit scores of around 650 or better, no credit lines ran up, and bills paid off, and my husband only having a job for the time length that he has, do you think we may be able to qualify for a loan knowing this information.
Which is the better scenario for getting the best Mortgage rate? Should I sign alone, or should spouse sign 2?
Posted in: Credit Score Good Range Tags: 30k, auto credit, bad debt, credit card, credit scores, jobs, relocation, ss
My spouse and I own one home, which we are renting
We are purchasing a second home
My income, alone, should be able to qualify for the loan
My spouse is temporarily between jobs, due to relocation
Our credit scores are both in the 700 range, with hers slightly higher
We have approximately in 30K in bad debt (auto/credit card), most of which is under my SS#, though we could move some over to hers
I should clarify, by "Bad Debt", I mean Credit Card and Automotive debt. We are current on all of the payments, and have not been delinquent at any point.
